Graduation Requirements - Year 3 Class Only
Students who meet the following requirements will be granted a Diploma of Ministerial Studies from SOFBI upon completion of the Year 3 program of study:
- Achieve a GPA of 2.0 or higher
- Complete 140.5 hours of instruction
- Complete all Student Ministries Practicum requirements
- Satisfy all financial obligations
NOTE:
Students who are required to attend the Summer School Program are not eligible to participate in the graduation ceremony. Upon satisfactory completion of the Summer School Program, students will be awarded their Diploma of Ministerial Studies.
Students who are eligible to participate in the Graduation Ceremony, yet are unable to attend the ceremony, may make prior arrangements to pick up their diploma no later than two weeks after the ceremony. In order to participate in the ceremony, students must:
- Pay a $100.00 graduation fee
- Attend scheduled rehearsals
- Arrive on time for the ceremony
- Adhere to the guidelines on graduation attire
Honor Graduates
Students who achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.70 or higher receive the following academic honors at graduation:
Academic Honor Required GPA
Summa Cum Laude ............................... 3.95 – 4.00
Magna Cum Laude ................................3.70 – 3.94
Outstanding Scholar
Each year, an Outstanding Scholar is selected from the Year 3 graduating class. Only the top three students are eligible to be considered for this honor. These students must write an essay and give an oral presentation. The Outstanding Scholar will be selected based on his or her overall academic performance, written essay, oral presentation, and demonstrated commitment to the work of the ministry. The Outstanding Scholar represents his or her graduating class during the graduation ceremony and gives the student address.
Dean's List
The Dean’s list is comprised of students who successfully complete all coursework for their year of study and achieve a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher.
